Ways to GiveWhen
you make a gift to Saint John Vianney College Seminary, you can
determine how the funds will be used, as well as how to give your gift.
Unrestricted
gifts are among the most important to SJV. Unrestricted gifts allow the
seminary to allocate funds wherever the need is greatest. Your
unrestricted contribution may be used to support costs associated with
financial aid, spiritual formation or capital support, and much more.
Directed
gifts allow you to designate your gift to a specific program. When you
make am directed gift you know that you are supporting an important
program that is personally meaningful to you. Types of GiftsOutright Gifts
When
you make an outright gift to SJV, your contribution can be put to work
immediately — either providing funding for current programs or creating
a reliable source of future income by expanding the seminary’s
endowment. An outright gift may be any asset of value:
- Cash gifts — the simplest and easiest gifts you can make — can be made through outright cash, a personal check, or credit card.
- Gifts
of appreciated securities and stocks also provide considerable tax
advantages when transferred to SJV before they are sold. If you have
held your securities for more than one year, you may find that your
gift will provide a twofold tax benefit, creating an income-tax
deduction as well as helping avoid the capital-gains tax that would
have been due on their sale.
Planned Gifts

gift, including bequests, life-income plans, and other options for your estate

Matching-Gift Programs
An
easy way to double or even triple your donation to SJV is to find out
if your company has a matching-gift program. Such programs typically
match all or a percentage of employee contributions to Saint John
Vianney. Simply submit a matching-gift form from your employer and send
it to Saint John Vianney with your contribution.
