Financial AidHow can you afford Saint John Vianney Seminary?
Saint John Vianney Seminary is
committed to providing an excellent, affordable education to every student who
receives a positive recommendation from his diocesan vocation director.
We make this commitment possible in several ways.
- Student Financial Services at the University of St. Thomas works with families to determine how much of the costs of education they can reasonably afford to pay.
- To help determine what is reasonable for you and your family, you will be asked to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), a standard guide nationwide for obtaining financial information. The University of St. Thomas uses information from FAFSA to determine family contributions in an objective manner.
- FAFSA results take about two months to obtain; therefore, it is important that you complete FAFSA forms early; the university can then process your financial aid application efficiently. The University of St. Thomas priority deadline for financial aid is April 1st of each year.
- Because Vianney Seminarians are students at the University of St. Thomas, they enjoy the benefit of the university's many financial aid programs.
- St. Thomas will develop a financial package for you. This includes a 35% tuition reduction for all seminarians, plus federal, state and local sources as well as student loans. For most Vianney seminarians, this assistance from various sources is enough to enable them to participate in our program.
- Many dioceses also provide financial support for seminarians. For more information about programs in your (arch) diocese, contact your vocation director.
- Vianney "goes the extra mile"
- Saint John Vianney provides special assistance each year to seminarians when family, diocesan and university assistance programs still do not cover their financial need. If you think you may need special help, call us. We are committed to you joining the seminary community, and we will do all we can to help you.
